                        	             YOLANDA VOSS

When she was a little girl, Yolanda Voss wanted to be a doctor, a teacher, or a fashion designer.  Her early recollection of fashion was to dress up her dolls.  Born in Ecuador and educated in fashion design, Yolanda Voss came to the United States after obtaining a Fashion Certificate from the Institute of Quito Luz de America in Quito, Ecuador.  Yolanda's mission was to become as good as the designers she had always admired, such as the great Balenciaga. Not too long after she came to the USA, she enrolled at Pier El Riff Institute to specialize in Haute Couture.  She also attended the Maryland Institute College of Art to perfect her illustrations.  In 1980, Yolanda opened her own Fashion and Image Institute Divisions which included, education in fashion image and style.  She too managed her very own Fashion Salon for special occasion and executive wear.

Ms. Voss has been creating exquisite designs for more than 30 years.  Her clients include, fashionable women from Maryland, Washington, DC, New York, California and Florida who appreciate her special touch, unique style and distinctive quality that mark her work.  Yolanda has been active in the education field for fashion image and style through the programs offered at Historical Savage Mill.  To name a few, the programs in which she offers include: Postgraduate for Fashion Designers, Corporate Image and Style for adults, Modeling and Finishing for teens.

Numerous prizes and honors have been awarded to Ms. Voss:

Honorary appointment to the Howard County Board of Economic Development Advisory Council

2003, recipient of the first Foreign Success Award in the history of Howard County

1992, Citation by Governor Schaeffer for  Impressive Commitment to the People of Maryland

1987, selected as "Outstanding Howard County Business Woman" by the Howard County Chamber of Commerce

 1986, listed as " Outstanding Area Designer" by the DC Chapter of the National Association of Fashion Consultants, among 50 designers from Maryland, Virginia and DC

1981, Special Citation by Governor Hughes for outstanding service to the community

1981, Woman of the Year, sponsored by the Patuxent Business and Professional Women's Club

Her long term goal and fondest dream is to build a center of education for
"Ninos de La Calle" - Children of the Streets of her native homeland, Ecuador.

Ms. Voss is also the producer and sponsor of the Designer's Premier, a showcase
of talent through which established and new designer talents which become
known in the Washington Metropolitan area.  

Proceeds from the yearly event provide a scholarship fund for disadvantaged students as well as the poor children of the Streets of her homeland.
